Is there a way to make something lose "legendary" type (supertype?)

Is there currently ANY way to make a permanent lose "legendary"
status?

(Is "Legendary" a supertype?)

Thanks,

Nope, not as far as I can see. Changing their creature type used to be
enough to do this, but that changed when...

Legendary is one of them, and Basic is the other. Things that change
types (like Soul Sculptor) and subtypes (like Unnatural Selection) leave
supertypes alone. There are some ways to mess around with the Basic
supertype, but not with Legendary, since a card would have to
specifically say that it did so, and so far none do. (The overwhelming
majority of existing cards were printed when there was no such thing as
a supertype, so they didn't account for this possibility.)

The reason I ask, of course, is so that I can get 4 Krark's Thumbs in
play... ;)

Not currently, no. (Note the same is not true of the creature subtype
"Legend.")

Yes, it and basic are the only two supertypes at present.

True - but changing that no longer changes whether the creature is a
legend. (For a long time it did.)

(I'm sure *you* know that, Lee, just posting for the benefit of anyone
who might misunderstand what you intend by that last sentence.)

Ack. Now I'm confused. Do you mean that if I change Rayne, Academy
Chancellor into a goblin, she DOESN'T lose the Creature Type (AKA
Subtype) Legend?

What? No. "Legend" is a creature type, "legendary" is a supertype. If a
creature stops being a Legend but stays a creature, it's no longer subject
to that particular state-based effect; if it stops being a creature, then
it stops being a Legend in the process AND doesn't become legendary. If
a legendary noncreature permanent becomes a creature, it's still legendary
but does NOT gain creature type Legend.

But yes, changing a creature's creature type away from or to "Legend" _does_
affect whether it abides by the relevant state-based effect, still.

No, she does; "goblin" overwrites "legend" (unless the effect making her
a goblin says she's still got her old creature type(s)). Goblins don't abide
by 420.5e; Legend creatures and legendary permanents do, but she's not either
one any more.

A Legendary permanent in general? No. (Certain specific ones, ones that are
what they are because of a copy effect and that can have another copy effect
change what they are? Yes. But only those.)
(Is "Legendary" a supertype?)
Yes. (205.4c, 215.*)
